Opa!Opa!Opa!

Welcome to the beautiful island of Santorini!!!
Well Val and i felt fresh and alive after two weeks in Greece!! We deffinately indulged in the Gyros and Baklava...mmmmm!!So after an intense 2 days (overnight train, then overnight ferrie) of travelling from Rome to Athens, we were relieved that it was just another 8 hour ferrie to the island of Sanotrini!!! Trust me when i say it was worth the journey to the destination!!
Just as i imagined it would be...narrow streets, beautiful white, blinding white even, were the houses, all propped up on the hills giving a spectacular view of the ocean all around!! Yes one might be close to paradise!! We even got to negotiate a luxiouious room seeing as it was low season...still sunny enough for me!
We set off exploring the island with the quad that we rented! What a blast, with everyturn another breathtaking view of the cliffs, villages and ocean!! We even found ourselves a red sand beach, they got all the colors on this island from the colvanoes that form and surround the island, pretty spectacular!!!!!
As for the volcanoes we did take a boat tour to and island nearby with several volcano craters, one still active but no lava...and from there
MykonosMykonosMykonos

A spectacular sunset by the windmills on the little venice island of Mykonos!!
to some natural hot springs...mixed in with the Mediterranean the hot spring was disappointingly luke warm!! It was still nice to cool off for a bit!!
From Santorini we had time to hit another island, Mykonos!! This is also known as little Venice!! you can really see why, the winding streets for pedestrians only were easy to get lost in....but with the famous windmills at the top of the hill as a landmark, we'd always manage our way back! We had a beatiful day on the beach and a fantastic sunset, what more could we ask for??
One last thing to do before leaving Greece...taking in the sites of Athens. We only had a day so a walking tour was the way to go. They brought us to many sites around Athens and of course most impressively the Acropolis! "A cithy on a hill! it really was, even with restorations in store, we were jaw dropped at the craftmenship put into this city! For the Greek gods to live in and Athena goddess of love and prosperity to watch over the people, the history that comes with the Acropolis goes back more than 500BC. Unimaginable!!!
So a flight back to Milan for a few days....and how lucky were we to see Da Vinci's The Last Supper, i mean this is something that you need to book 3 weeks in advance and we just lucked out as some people didn't show up and we got their tickets!!! It was truly spectacular i can't even put it into words!!! We then flew back to London and Val is now back in Winnipeg, but not before visiting Stonehenge and Bath first!! what a spectacular daytrip from London to finish off the trip, and with Marc who's now in London with me!! This only means now that the job search is on for me, the travel stories might slow down for now, but we'll keep in contact!!!
