In Iguazu with no internet

Right now we're in Iguazu, and are mooching off of the internet at the Sheraton - so no pictures yet unfortunately. The falls were more amazing than we had even imagined - they go on and on, and the volume of water going over them is mind-boggling. We took a raft trip today that went up into the mouth of the falls which was awesome. The whole area around the falls is a rain forest, and they've built catwalks all through it so you can view the falls from tons of different places in the National Park.

Iguazu is definitely out in the middle of nowhere. Quite a change from BsAs! Lots of dirt roads around, and mostly just beautiful rain forest everywhere you look. Our hotel is funny - Looks like the Brady Bunch from the outside, but has a modern, swank lobby, but then the room is sort of 80's. It was billed as a 5-star hotel, but we think that it might have received that distinction back in about 1975. Anyway, it's fine - also has a big pool outside, where yesterday afternoon they started playing 50 Cent and other rap music over the loudspeakers... yeeeeeaahh!!!!!!

Our visit to the park yesterday was perfect - sunny weather and hot and humid - just as a rainforest should be 😊 We walked around for hours and hours viewing the falls from all different angles - which might sound like it would get old - but not a chance with these falls. They really are that spectacular!! We loved the park so much that we decided to go to the Sheraton (inside the park) for dinner, and then go back that night for the special full moon tour of the falls at night. Only happens 3 days a month, so we were incredibly lucky to be here during that! Viewing the falls at night was a totally different experience - very surreal. Harold took super long exposures on his camera, so we got some really beautiful shots of the falls in the moonlight, with the stars in the background.

Today we came back to the park and did the "adventure tour", which included a jeep ride through the forest, rafting, and what they call a "baptism" underneath the falls. Right now we've finished lunch, and are waiting for the thunderstorm to pass over... a pretty typical thing here in the rain forest. We're about to go back into the park for some bird watching - they have tucans here (like Tucan Sam), but they are very elusive! Hoping to see one now that the rain has stopped and it is nice and cool out. (Apparently they are very shy and like the shade.)

We'll hopefully be able to post our pictures tomorrow from our new hotel in Bariloche - we have some really great ones. We'll also catch up on our last day in Buenos Aires, since we haven't gotten that in yet. Adios!
