Koh Samet in Rayong i think its near and beutiful island its far only 30 min and Cheap. If you want to goto south of Thailand you can go by Bus or Cheap Airfare to the other beach. Reply to this

Don't waste all of your time at beaches! You can find beaches in many countries but you will only find what makes Thailand unique only in Thailand!

A short visit to Chiang Mai will be a nice break from only sand and sun. From Bangkok you can also take the overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai and save paying for another night in a hotel in Bangkok. (Thailand is warm all over, you can even get a tan in Bangkok or Chiang Mai too!)

P.S. Don't blow off Bangkok either, it's worth a couple days in the beginning of your trip and at least a final night there before you fly home. This way you can get used to the heat and time changes, see the city, take in a couple tours from travel agencies. A final night will take away any chance that any "last minute" connecting flight breaks down and you miss your ride home. A final night in Bangkok will give you a chance to do some last minute souvenir shopping.

Have fun, don't sweat the weather so much. The rain doesn't usually last more than an hour or so and the sun comes out nice and bright! Reply to this

july is not good for weather on the phuket side, but a-ok on the koh samui side. you can find some or just rent a motorbike when you get here and ride around for a bit. while it is very easy to find a place to rent, it isn't so nice or easy to carry your bags/backpacks around with you while you look so sometimes it is nice to have the first night booked in advance.

july is considered high season (2nd high season technically) on koh samui but you shouldn't have any problems finding a room on the beach. if you really want budget bungalows on the beach, try the north end of the lamai beach, from Jah Peace bungalows up to New Hut. there are about a dozen budget (read very inexpensive) bungalow operations on that stretch.

if you are on a limited budget, skip chaweng, you won't find anything there accomodation wise, only nightlife. fishermans village is nice but getting pricy. you can try bang rak but again i think it is becoming pricy.

good luck, have fun.
