Looking to hear any info from people who have traveled there

I am trying to head into Papua this July and I trying to find out if it is possible to catch a ferry there from the Philippines. I will be in the Philippines for three weeks before heading to Indonesia. I would like to get directly from Davao to Sulawesi or Sorong without heading all the way back west to SIngapore and Jakarta. Any Suggestions?

Other than that I am really just looking to hear any info from people who have been there in the last four or five years. It is a bit less traveled than most places so gathering logistics info is a bit harder. Any transportation or lodging info will be helpful, as well as just about anything else. Reply to this

West Papua is a fantastic destination ! Cheapest way to get to Jayapura and further to Wamena is with Garuda Airlines from Denpasar to Jayapura. It is also the most convenient way to get there. Please see my personal non-commercial website for all possible answers to your questions and heaps of pictures, including a recent trip report + tons of pictures from Papua New Guinea as well.
