I have a 'calling' to travel these parts and would love to stay somewhere native american sensitive. This is my first entry so any help would be good. I'd also love to photograph the whole 'cactus foliage-gas station in-the-middle-of-nowhere' thing. thats if they still exist! ......and did i mention.... on a budget. Thanks for any tips.
Reply to this I don't think there is too much available around the GC itself, but about a day's drive east is Monument Valley, in the middle of the Navajo reservation, and location of classic western movie mesas and buttes. MV itself is a tribal park, and the local accommodation (Gouldings) is native american, as is the nearest town (Kayenta).
Reply to this Thanks for that..........although i have just found out i can stay with Havasupai tribe in the heart of the GC.
Now i just have to persuade my mate that a 10 mile hike to it is what she needs!
