We're looking to do some travelling either side of this 6 week period, and currently are planning a trip to possibly Rio de Janerio, followed by either a stay in Valparaiso/Santiago OR Buenos Aires. Does anybody have any advice/suggestions of which of these two places is better to go to given that we only have one week to spend there. Which city has more interesting sights to see?? Open to any suggestions, as neither of us have ever been to South America before. Thank you Robert LeGrandBleu Ana Carol Post Count: 53 Msg: #2 680 days ago, January 17th 2008 | Hi there, | If you have the chance, go to the Iguaçu/Iguazu falls. You'll be close to it. It's on the border of Brazil (Foz do Iguaçu) and Argentina (Puerto Iguazu), and it can be seen from both countries. It takes one day to see each side of the falls. Don't know where you are staying in Paraguay, but should be easy to arrange a bus and go there. You can also visit the Itaipu dam, the largest operational hydroelectric power plant, on the border of Brazil (Foz do Iguaçu) and Paraguay (Ciudad del Este). Hope this helps! Yes we were going to try and plan a day near Iguazu falls because i think that might be near to where we are going. We will be staying near Asuncion, so im guessing its possible to get a bus from Asuncion to Iguazu?? | Have you been to Buenos Aires or Santiago? if you had to pick between the two, which would you choose? I'm sure you can easily arrange that once in Paraguay. I've been to Buenos Aires and liked it a lot. Never been to Santiago - one day, of course :) - but I've heard it's very nice too.
