Hey,

I'm flying Air Asia for the first time and I'm a little confused. I understand first come first service, but I can't imagine how this would go down...

Where I'm confused:
1) If everyone is allowed to pick where they sit, wouldn't it take forever to fill up the plane? I mean families would have to separate, people would have to squeeze by each other people. Are there huge "traffic jams" when people try and find a seat on their own.
2) What's this express service? The description says that you just get to pick your seat first, and get off first. Is it that bad? Can't people just wait a few minutes.

Lastly,
3) Where are the bad seats, and what are considered the good seats on Air Asia planes?

Depending on where you fly, boarding can be total mayhem! 😊

My worst memory is from a Tiger Airways flight from Singapore to Bangkok. A horde of passengers were crowding in front of the gate as if waiting in line for a rock concert. When boarding commenced the most eager passengers grabbed their tax free bags and ran for the doors. Amusing, bewildering and quite sad to watch.

Just sit back and wait for the mob to rush the plane, then you can board peacefully after the dust settled a bit. I can see little point in rushing unless you badly want to be seated in the front. The rows fill up from the front, and windows usually go first.

For short haul and domestic, Air Asia mainly operates varieties of the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Seating arrangement is typically 3+3. There aren't really any bad seats unless your preferences dictate so. The engines aren't that noisy, you might want to sit in the front if they bother you. If you want to have a nice view through your window you should avoid the mid-section, since the wing will be obscuring downward view. Reply to this

I've used Air Asia for several times inside Indonesia between Bali and Jakarta. Good thing about this airline, it is rarely delayed (compare to other Indonesian airline at the same time). Although passengers dont have seat number for their own, but it doesn't take long queue to fill the plane. Well maybe in my case, the plane was not fully occupied. My suggestion is, better stay next to the airport's gate, so that you can take the first queue. Based on my experience, AirAsia did not provide meals/beverage. You can buy it from the stewardess. Passengers is prohibited to bring their own meal/snacks/beverages. So better eat outside the plane before boarding.
Passengers who sit in front (next to plane's door) have to fully understand how to open the door in emergency situations. Stewardess will teach them how, so it will take 15 minutes to learn about it. If you are not interested about this awareness, better pick seats other than the front seats.
Thats all I can share, have a save flight OKao Reply to this

Because of the first come first serve basis on air asia flights, late boarders are separated. but otherwise, it doesnt really take up that much time to fill up the plane. air asia has an average of 80% on time record (last time i checked anyway. you can confirm this for yourself at the airasia website if you like)

goo seats bad seats are up to your preference, really.they're the same size, recline the same amount, equipped with the same quantity of barf bags and reading material. window seats go first, and usually people tend to crowd the aisle to get off the plane first when it lands. just sit back and let the mob pass, it'll be fine.

have a good flight~ Reply to this
