Hi All,

I will travel to Malaysia in January.
What is sure:I will spend 3 nights in KL, 3 nights on Penang, 3 nights on Langkawi, one more night on Penang.
I will leave Penang on the 02th of february, and I want to arrive to Singapore on the 6th of february. (as early as it is possible, because my home flight departs from SIN on 07th feb late evening)
So, I have 4 days left from to spend somewhere, and to arrive to Singapore.
What would be your recommendation , considering the bus/train schedules?
thank you Reply to this

Hi Karamella, if u would like to get away the hectic city in KL, u can plan to travel up to Cameron Highlands where fresh air and cold weather awaits u there. As I myself currently is working there on one of the resorts and I am enjoying the nice weather here. Or else, u can plan to fly to East Malaysia and visit Mulu Caves and Pinnacles. I love to go there but still never have the chance yet. Other than Langkawi, u should try Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian or Pulau Tioman. These island are more less commercialised as Langkawi. Enjoy... Reply to this

Hi Karamella,

What you could do with your remaining 4 days would depend on what your preferences are. If you're a shopping freak, then spend a little more time in KL. You'll be able to get pretty good bargains at Chinatown, Petaling Street. The locals there call it Chi Chong Kai. If you love food and culture, I would say Penang's a good place to spend more time in. One day wouldn't do justice to the place. But if you're the outdoor type, then rica choc's suggestion would be good. Added to that, Perak too has some fantastic eco-tourist friendly places to offer. You probably may like to try Banding resort which lies smack in the middle of the Temenggor Lake, the gateway to Belum forst where you can get to see the Rafflesia, one of the world's largest flowers. If you like white water rafting or just trekking, the Gopeng My Resort is good too. There's another place in Gopeng called adeline's place where you can get to stay in a native styled house and visit the nearby native settlements. Apparently they also provide pretty delicious food. Mei02's suggestions reminds me of another "Tropical Fruits World & Aboriginal Native Village" - D-PARADISE in Melaka whereby you can discover 800 type of species in more than 168 acres of Orchird Garden with took more than 5 years of preparation and many other activities such as Park Ranger education, Discovery Jungle Hunting trip with the Native People, Lnch or Dinner prepared by the Native People, Night Safari Tour, Wild Honey Discovery and Natural Hot Water Bath. KL ideas:

shopping, eating.. most malaysians have an affinity for their local mamak shop...indian muslim restaurants that take up residence on most corner lots of shop houses.usually open 24 hours, heaps of locals, and cheap, tasty food.

Eye on malaysia: a massive ferris wheel that offer kl views, not unlike the eye of london. best time to go is at night...obviously.

Putrajaya: new administrative capital of malaysia...i go there to enjoy the incredible architecture, notable builings include the putra mosque and the ministry of finance, and the boulevard (in my opinion). and the lake is great too, where you can go sailing, rowing or kayaking at the lake club and enjoy a nice meal afterwards. There's also a guided lake cruise on traditional style boats. There's a wetlands, botanical garden and public parks as well.

langkawi ideas:

Island hopping is awesome. visit tasik dayang bunting (lake of the pregnant maiden) and enjoy the freshwater lake. you can swim and kayak there, the water is lovely.

Fabulous batik printings at Atma Alam Batik Village. My aunt went there a while back and she bought heaps of absolutely gorgeous batik print cloths and silks. these are not the commercial run of the mill ones..most of them are eye catching, original, modern batik designs.

Langkawi cable car is one of the best things i like about langkawi-it's an awesome bit of architecture and engineering, and it links to a mountain trail to telaga tujuh (the seven wells) a famous mythical waterfall in langkawi. Hop into a cable car and when you reach the summit the view is breathtaking.

just my $0.02. have a good time! Reply to this

Dear karamella,

May I suggest you to visit Cameron Highland and Melaka.
I'm not sure whether you already arrange your hotel and transport. But if not, I suggest you stay 3N in Penang, 3N Langkawi, 1N Penang, 2N cameron, 3N Kuala Lumpur 2N Melaka then take a bus to Singapore (melaka is quite near to Singapore). Reply to this
