I'm flying into Bangkok next week to kick off five months in South East Asia and I'm looking for a good hostel for the first couple days.
I'm traveling solo so I'd like to find a fun place with a good community of other travelers. I don't need anything particularly fancy-my budget will be 200 to 250 USD per week. Any input or advice is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
Reply to this Hi Dan, we stayed at Asha Guesthouse the last time we were in Bangkok and it had a bar area, swimming pool and tv and reading room which all had a friendly vibe. Beer was a bit pricey but who wants to sit in a hostel bar all night anyway... It's quite far out from the centre but is near the sky train. Also worth trying might be Shanti Lodge which is in the Banglamphu area and walking distace to Khao San Road if that is what you are into... We didn't stay there as they were full but it was recommended to us by several people we met on our travels. We did eat in the restaurant though and the food (all vegetarian) was amazing. Hope that helps, happy travels, Vikki.
