There are some wonderful places in China that few western tourists ever find as most have not a lot of time to try and see as much as they can. The Bamboo Sea is one of those places. The Bamboo Sea National Park is a forst of Bamboo in a remote part of China filled with lakes, natural scenery, Bamboo of all kinds as well as birds, very large butterflies, huge spiders and nature in the raw. The high mountains of Sichuan province provides the home for the Panda bears, birds of all kinds, lakes, natural forests, Tibetan people, Monasteries and few western tourists if any. You may even stay with a Tibetan family in a village with wonderful hiking and trekking avaialble. Rice Terraces again with great hiking and small mountain hotels with western familcities is available at Longsheng outside of Guilin. Also the home of the Zhuang people listed in the Guiness Book of Records as the women cut their hair only at age 13 and then never cut it again. For a small tip they will unwind their hair and show you the length which is often longer than they are tall. Keep in touch as I will be writing about the Musuo people of Lugu Lake, the only Matriarcle society in Asia which I visited for the 3rd time this past fall.
