What are the options to get from South to Central America?

As far as I know, there is no land road from Colombia to Panama? I've read there is ~90 km jungle gap and some unclear organizations are controlling the area in Colombia's side.

I suppose flights are quiet expensive if compared to other options.. I would prefer inexpensive way to get to Panama (or other country nearby). Are there any means of water transport, for example, regular ferries? From Venezuela, Ecuador or Colombia?

Hello hmm,

A fun way to get from Colombia to Panama is by sailing from Cartagena to San Blas. I have only been in San Blas myself, but I believe the entire trip to be amazing. Prices are around $275 for one-way (3 full days, all inclusive).

Good luck!

Try to get a lift on a sail boat! Though: not many are going through the Panama Canal anymore (too expensive)... Reply to this

It's fairly amazing how bad some of those airlines websites are! You can't even view their schedules...

I'm actually going the otherway, trying to get from Panama to Buenos Aires. Does anyone know of an airline that flies this route other than Copa (which costs about $1000...)

Thanks!
