Hi, we are to frozen swedes who are going to spend xmas in the Arenal area and new year in the village Santa Teresa. Anyone been there or heard about the places? Maybe you are planning a trip to CR for the holidays?

We would happily recive any recommendations, advices and suggestions about CR?

Thanks!

Hope you don't feel we are hijacking your thread!!
We are 4 frozen Swedes (2 adults 2 kids 7 & 8 yrs) doing the same thing and feel totally lost. We need beach, rainforest, vulcano. Some people have told us it is not as easy as say Thainland to get accomodation ther, we should plan in advance...
Lots of suggestions needed!!

We went to CR in March and it was quite an easy and enjoyable trip. We went to Arenal for a couple of days. There you'll have the volcano, the huge lake, rain forest, hot springs. We also went to Manuel Antonio beach which is great for normal beaching and surfing. It also has the rain forest which comes directly to the ocean.
In Arenal we stayed in a private house where a couple of women just rent the free room. They also organized the zip line activities for us.
We rented a car to drive to Arenal from SJ. We took a small plain to go to Manuel Antonio and a bus to go back. Reply to this

I can highly recommend the Star Mountain Jungle Lodge, especially for small groups. It's possible to rent the entire place for weeks at a time and it's super comfortable, plus the owner (Andrew) is a great guy. You can reach him through his web site at Costa Rica Eco Lodge. The lodge is on a private reserve that nudges right up against the Cabo Blanco National Park. You are guaranteed to see a lot of wildlife and it's just a short hop to the beach. It's in Mal Pais - just up the road from Santa Teresa.
