I am contemplating a 1 week visit to Greenland next summer. Here are a few questions:

1. What is the best way to get to Greenaland?
2. What transportation options are available once I arrive?
3. I imagine hiking and camping are big activities, is there anything else to do?
4. Are there hotels, guides, shops, etc? Reply to this

In summer fly from BWI (Air Greenland) but o/w cheaper to fly from Denmark. Yo can go from Iceland but only East (Kulusuk). Much better to got to Disko Bay. Hotels everywhere and home stays too through tourist offices but beware mosquitoes. Except for ferries, you have to fly everywhere. If you can afford it, go to Qanaaq (Thule). Best of luck. Hallo Greenland is a wonderful place.
I am danish, but live here in Greenland, Maniitsoq.
you fly from Chopenhagen, Denmark to kangerlusuaq, Denmark. Roundtrip about 1000 us dollar. It is also posible to fly Balltimore, US to Kangerlusuaq Greenland. I dont know the price for this.
It is very expencive to fly in Greenland, but Air greenland fly every day to almost every town. There at a coast ferry, sailing up and down the coast during the summer. In all the district there are smaller boats saling between towns and smaller settelments.
Yes Disko Bay are beautiful, especially araund Ilulisaat icefjord, which is on unesco's list of world herrigtages.
I love my area around Maniitsoq. Here we have very wild mountains, many fjords and beautilful glecier runing all the way down to the see.
South Greenland is very green and they do also have some isbergs there.
Hiking is good wherever you go in Greenland.
I am not sure that Qaanaaq is on my top 10 list.
If you stop by Maniitsoq you are very welcome to looke me up(if I am home) at lokal hospital, where I am working as a nurse.
Dorte Simonsen.
