For those travelers that like to skeep capitals from its schedule, let me suggest you one town right in mexico city that you will love as chilangos do(residents of mexico city)
Tlalpan old center is a place to get the real mexico city residents espirit, well at least from a cultural point of view. The mercado has great mexico city food and yes its cheap. Try to drink a cup of coffe at Cafe la Selva wich sales organic coffe from Chiapas and is actually trying to survive against Starbuck savage competition. The Church is just like the ones you see on TV or old mexican movies and also is a convent. The main square has a flymarket on sundays with nice handcrafts, mexican CD's, food, pictures.

Hope this information help travelers coming to mexico city! Reply to this

Thank-you for that information. Mexico City is a remarkable place. I think sometimes its easy for people to be overwhelmed by it just given its immense size and population. Therefore its great when residents come and share their tips for great places to visit in the city. It really is too bad that the small coffee shop is struggling against the Goliath that is starbucks. Its amazing that dang place is everywhere.

Hi,
I am traveling to Guadalajara and DF in one week to visit mis suegros. I have been trying to find ideas of activities to do in DF. I will have my two daughters with me, 5 years and 4 mos. Are there any nice family things we can do? I am not really interested in traveling to Acapulco, just want to see the real Mexico.

Muchas Gracias, Krystal

I am not renting a car, planning on using the bus system or taxis and my spanish is very good so I hope we survive. Reply to this
