i'm hoping someone can help me out!
i'm going to be working in thailand for 4 months and then i have a few weeks in asia before having to return to the UK.
i'm trying to plan a what to do with my time. i have 5 weeks. i'm not sure whether to spend 3 weeks in java/ bali and then move to the philippines for 2 weeks or whether to spend 5 weeks in indonesia???
is 3 weeks in java/bali too rushed? too much? is 2 weeks in philippines long enough?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Reply to this I guess it all depends on what you want to do with your time. How many places did you plan on visiting in Java and Bali? And how many islands in the Philippines? I spent ten days in Jakarta and still didn't feel it was enough, so it basically comes down to what it is you wish to see, do and experience on your trip.
Yes, not much of a useful answer I know; try listing things that interest you in the places you mentioned, then consider how many days each destination might require and you will hopefully be on the right track.

I have not been to the Phillipines, but I have made 7 visits to Indonesia since 1997 and so my vote would be for Indonesia. Last year I travelled alone for 5.5 months through Java for 35 days, Sumatra for 3.5 months, Aceh for 18 days, 5 days in Kuta Lombok and 6 days in Tana Toraja Sulawesi.
