Want to travel from east (Montreal) to west (Victoria) of Canada, which is the best way?
Hye!
We, me and my boyfriend, want to travel all august to cross canada by rocky moutains and have a big doubt about the best way to do it. Buy a car? But we return in france just after... Rent a car? Or are you ready to do it and to take us in your? Don't want too much to hichhhike because it takes too much time and appears that it's not alouded in Ontario.
So what about this experience? what's your suggestions?

I live in Edmonton Alberta, and am from BC. Two years ago we took the train across Canada (viarail.ca) - it is a slow trek but very beautiful. Quite cheap because you can bring your own food on board, and can sleep in your seat. Greyhound Bus in Canada (greyhound.ca) is also a cheap, clean, comfortable way to go. You can get a month long travel pass for about $500.
I have hitchhiked over most of BC and Alta and have found it to be safe and easy. Even if Ontario outlaws it, the worst you are going to get is told not to do it anymore. Once the police leave you can start again. Canada law for civilians is very lenient because people are naturally so honest and law abiding here.
The youth hostels here are all good - make sure you go to Quebec city - georgeous city and the youth hostel is awesome! The youth hostel in Ottawa is a jail and is totally worth stopping at.
I could go on forever so I will leave it there and if you have any questions let me know
