4 Days 3 Nights at Manila (or Philippine) with Kids, what to do?
17 years ago, April 23rd 2007 No: 1 Msg: #13220
Hello all... I'm a new member here. My name is Ifan, I'm Indonesian.

Me, my wife, and our sons (7 years old and 5 years old) are planning to visit Manila on the end of May.

Would you guys suggest some places to go for me and my family? We prefer something like theme park, safari park (zoo), sea world (or something like that), nice shopping mall for kids, nice white sands beach, or something that could be enjoy by kids. Please don't suggest cave, river rafting, trekking, or other adventure activities, cause my kids can't enjoy that 😊
Bais Dolphin & Whale Watching (Negros Oriental) seems nice, is it far from Manila?
Charms of Old Manila seems to be a must go tour, so I'll take that 😊

Besides, any suggestion on which area to stay, Malate, Bay Area, or Makati? I prefer area with a lots of tourist. Just as Bali, I prefer to stay at Kuta area than others.
Atrium Hotel at Bay area (http://www.atriumhotel-manila.com) seems to be a nice place to rest, any comments? What about the location?

Besides, could you guys suggest any travel company that I can contact for inbound tours in Manila (email address or website)?

This is all I got in mind recently. I hope I can ask again if I have something else.

Thanks in advance! Reply to this

hi! i'm also a new member here. if you like to visit old manila, i would suggest you stay in a hotel within the bay area. old manila: intramuros area (san agustin church, it has also a museum; fort santiago), national museum, metropolitan museum, cultural center of the philippines are nearby. malls in manila: sm manila (near manila cityhall), robinson's manila(ermita area, tourist belt) pasay mall: sm mall of asia.

themepark: there's a city themepark: star city in the CCP complex along roxas blvd., sta. rosa, laguna themepark: enchanted kingdom (about 1 1/2hr. from manila)

zoo: manila zoo, avilon zoo (montalban, about an hour from manila), zoobic safari (subic bay, about 3 hours from manila), paradizoo (silang, tagaytay about 2hours from manila)

beach: for 4days/3nights stay in manila, i would suggest beach at boracay. there are flights via kalibo (then you have to get board a bus or van for caticlan then boatride to boracay),boracay via kalibo (cebu pacific, air philippines, philippine airlines); you can get to boracay via caticlan too (asian spirit, seair)

negros oriental is in the visayas, flights to visayas are about 45mins-1hour. same with boracay via kalibo.

you can try to search the internet for department of tourism (DOT) philippines, they have local DOT in the provinces, you can email them

I would suggest that you stay in Makati instead in Manila. If you dont want to be hurled by beggars from the streets and be disappointed by what you see then dont stay in the Manila Area. I myself am from the Philippines, Makati specifically, but I get disappointed a lot whenever I get to be at Manila and whenever I read bad reviews about the area. Expect heavy traffic, dirty streets, and heavy pollution in most of the area. That is why I would suggest for you to stay in Makati. Less pollution, more westernized, and less chaotic than Manila.

On the other hand, Manila holds most of the historical places in the country. It is ok to travel around Manila in a day, but stay there? that's another story... Try to visit Ocean world itis relatively new. The kids will enjoy that.

For beaches, visti Boracay or Palawan. Always at the top of the list of the best beaches in the world... need I say more? 😊 Reply to this

I just want to let you know that we visited Paradizoo last 18 Oct but we were very disappointed because the staff did not honor the rates shown on their website. We were a group of 10 plus kids. They want us to buy Php199 package instead of the P99 since it is a weekend. They said that the Php99 is only applicable on weekdays. But that is not the info shown in the website. There is no such distinction that weekend rate is different from weekdays. They are saying the Php 199 will entitle us to visit Residence Inn but we don’t want to go to Residence Inn. I told them to ask any of their superior and see if our request can be granted but the staff just insisted on the Php 199.

Anyway, we ended up not visiting your farm. It is just so disheartening, especially for the kids who woke up early and was expecting a good time with the animals. Reply to this

So many beautiful places to visit in the Philippines! As vonneclouie above me suggested, Boracay is definitely worth visiting, as are Palawan, Tagaytay and Villa Escudero. Reply to this
