"P" is for Pinetop Perkins...one of the all-time giants who played with loads of blues people in his time.

Pinetop Perkins reminds me of Johnny Johnson who played with Chuck Berry for many years and the song "Johnny B. Goode" was reportedly a tribute to Johnny Johnson's behavior when he was drinking. Denise and I saw Johnny being guided to the stage in his later years and often mention his fingers danced over the keys from memory as he seemed otherwise physically impaired. Johnny died at 81 while Pinetop Perkins still had it at 97...truly a legend that I would have loved to see with Muddy Waters, Dangerous One!!!
Reply to this So many greats that I never got the chance to see. Born a little too late for most. Read recently in a post from the Kingfish that he was back in Clarksdale for a bit and heard that Red had died. So happy to have been able to go to his place, with him sitting there like a king in his kingdom. He gave so many an opportunity to play.

Thanks for the sad news of Red's departure for Blues Heaven, Dangerous One. I think Denise got the news from MJ.
There was a message on that thread from the band that was playing the night we were at Red's at Clarksdale back in 2017 that I must respond to.
How can we forget Red's call to Denise that night,
"Take off your overcoat girl, so we can see your moves"!!!
