One thing you have managed to photograph (or see!) that nobody else is likely to photograph (or see)?

This can either be because the "thing" is difficult to photograph, very unusual, it no longer exists, etc.

I've seen spectacular creatures in the ocean, spectacular landscapes, beautiful different people, and more, but know that most of them could be photographed or seen by another person.

Not including a travel partner you may have been with at the time, I'm curious if you've seen something or somebody that you think nobody else will likely see or photograph again? Pictures would be great, but not needed to participate in this topic. Reply to this

We were talking about this recently. When we worked closely with an elephant camp, one of the elephants sadly died. The camp was on a farmer's land, so what do you do with the body? It's so big and too heavy to move. We were there as the mahouts cut the body up into smaller pieces so they could move it to cremate away from the farm. It was so weird and sombre to see. Topless men covered in blood hacking up a dead elephant. They laid the parts out on tarpaulin in order, perhaps so they could almost put it back together to cremate.

I wanted to take photos, but it seemed totally wrong to do that. Like all such things, the images are burned into our memories now. We will never forget it. Reply to this

This guy is only the size of my fingernail and only travels at night. Was found in the fold of a deck umbrella

Kris, Kate -- even reading your story, I can't believe what you witnessed! Wow! What a horrific, fascinating and lasting experience.

Dave -- LOVE the microbat -- impressive that anybody spotted it moving. Some great photos in that blog by the way. Some fantastic macro shots! e.g.
