Is Cathay Pacific's All Asia Pass the best (cheapest / efficient) to maximize seeing Asia? - Posted Anonymously
A friend told me about the All Asia Pass. I am wondering if there are any other airlines that offer a similiar package? Is this a good way to visit many places in Asia? Are there other options and factors to consider? I am trying to plan a trip for three months or more and i am currently doing research in how to execute the plan.
Thanks for any help that anyone may have.

Reply to this I have been to Thailand via LAX, several times, and I have found that the cheapest tickets are found at travelocity and expedia. You just have to start looking for the ticket in advance and usually you can find a deal that is really nice. But if there is a deal for some pass, that probably has everything enclusive, maybe its the way to go. Asia is very cheap, so it depends on what kind of luxorys you want, determining how much
Reply to this In my experience I felt that I had given myself too many deadlines for visiting Asia through prearranged flights, so much so that I cancelled them. It depends really on whether you have specific places you want to see, or whether you are happy taking each day as it comes.
I also found that visiting an airport can end up taking most of a day, even when the flight is only for an hour or two. Although sitting on a bus for hours is also no fun.
Reply to this if you have limited time and have things you want to see, i would say that the pass is a good idea. it will keep you to a schedule and you'll get to see everything you want. however, if you you have more than enough time (i.e. considering taking more than 3 months to travel) then, buying along the way is not bad. i used airtreks.com in san francisco to help me organize my trip as the cathy pacific pass didn't go to all the places i wanted to travel to. good luck with the travels!
Reply to this If you can stick to a schedule, you can purchase online tickets from several budget airlines operating in South East Asia. These are no frills flights, they will not provide any food, but you can buy from them in flight if you like. Anyway the flight within South East Asia only last for 1 to 3 hours at most, so you don't really get hungry. (air asia, tiger airways, jetstarasia)
Reply to this Cathay Pacific is my second favorite airline in the world (after Singapore Air). I've travelled to 39 countries and all 50 United States.
It's 21 day, fly anywhere in Asia program is unequalled but it doesn't work for me because of the 21 day limitation. When I fly throughout asia, I travel for 1-3 mo. at a time, but IF you only have 21 days, it's the greatest travel bargain since the really cheap RTW fares, which are gone and lost forever.
