hi, just a quick question regarding buses in Vietnam, looking to travel northwards from HCMC to various places, probaby 5-6 hour journeys so no night buses, has anyone got advice regarding the best bus companies to use? I don't mind paying the most. Thanks Reply to this

If you walk down Bui Vien and Pham Ngu Lao in hcmc you will see lots of offices for the various open bus companies. You see the buses arrive and leave so you can compare. Sinh tourist is the most popular (note it's sinh tourist, not sinh cafe - the original name was copied by less professional organisations) but Phuong trang is ok too.

If you need to do some longer trips, consider flying rather than night bus. There are lots of budget airlines that fly the routes and it means you have longer to enjoy your holiday rather than being stuck on an uncomfortable bus. Nha trang to Hoi an for example is a long bus ride. North of Hoi An is also a long bus ride until you get somewhere else. Vietnam is a long country and the roads are awful! Reply to this
