I'm a historian at heart. I always want to know where we have come from, and are there any lessons to be learned. Originally I access a site that takes snapshots of blogs, and went to the earliest snapshots to see who the bloggers were way back then. I was able to identify a few, and Follow Colin, the only one who still signs onto the site occassionally. However, having just figured out how to identify these bloggers (Ali is blogger #1) I entered #1 through #10. I clicked on Preview to see what names popped up. Most were "unknown" so I entered a bunch more. I had to go to #30 before I had a list of the first 10 bloggers. Anyone want to take this further until we find bloggers our Moderators or other TBers recognize?

Ali, how many of these people do you recognize as friends who wanted to use you personal site to document their travels? I'm curious when TB expanded beyond your immediate circle of friends to the entire blogosphere.
Reply to this What a lovely idea, trace the original bloggers, how many are still going I wonder, looking forward to Ali's answer 😊
Reply to this Colin is the next longest still-active member I can think of after Ali, without doing any searches.
Would be an interesting one to follow up on.
Reply to this Nice idea Bob!
Of the 20 you posted - Matthew, Gaelle, and Matt (my brother) were people personally known to me. The rest found TB some how!
The "unknowns" were either people who deleted accounts, or were deleted for one reason or another (usually spam!) - 12 years is a long time on the internet.
I wish I'd built a few things better at the start - there was no NEW blogger state so every post showed on the site - regardless of testing or spamming. If I done that we might have a few more of the sub 100's still.
One nice thing that will start coming up soon will be 10 year anniversaries for some of the bloggers! 10 years using a site on the internet is something worth celebrating!
