I will be driving down the PCH from SF to LA.

Is this doable in a day (as I only have 1 day available) and if so how long will it take/how many miles? I plan to set off at 8am and have the whole day to do it in mid-June. Reply to this

It can be done. Don't expect to get into LA before supper, especially if you stop periodically (as you should) to see the sights. Reply to this

Thanks. I have picked out a couple of places to stop and it doesnt get dark until late on in June so this should be fine. Reply to this

I did it once. Didn't quite make it the whole way. Of course, I was also heading north instead of south. Also, be aware of the possibility of road closures along PCH. Make sure to check Caltrans' website in advance for potential closures: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/statemap.htm Reply to this
