Hi,
I'm currently in the Philippines, just arrived from South Korea and i don't have Malaria tablets with me. As i've travelled for 2 months previously in non malaria places i was advised by my nurse, to just get them when i was away, therefore not carrying around loads of tablets for months before i needed them.
Has anyone got any experience of getting tablets on the road and which would be the best to take? I have gone into a chemist here but was told i'd need a doctors prescription and i'm not sure how i'd go about that being a foreign citizen.
Are there any ways of getting tablets without doctor's orders.
Thanks
Dan
Reply to this I think that they would be readily available, but I suspect you will need a doctor's prescription.
Reply to this Be careful if you do find somewhere to buy them over the counter, as they may be counterfeit.
Reply to this I had not thought about an international hospital or even a hospital. Was just hoping maybe you could get them in a chemist/pharmacy as my nurse back home seemed to think they'd be easy enough to get.
Other people have said they don't bother and just used repellent but that doesn't seem enough protection. I'm in the middle of nowhere at the moment so can't get anything anyways but once i get somewhere bigger i'll hope to search around more and get some.
