Question about Boston and gotobus.com

Hey. Anyone toured around Boston for a day? I was thinking of spending a day there during Spring Break (March 8th). Anyone know of any good hostels or if its safe to be a tourist?

Also, anyone been on one of the bus tours from Boston to NYC from gotobus.com? Any suggestions for a college student? Reply to this

I traveled from NYC to Boston for one day but I stayed at a friend's home. The bus I took is luckystar bus http://luckystarbus.com/ from Chinatown
It leaves NYC each hour and you can just go to the place mentioned on the website, buy the ticket and go. If you go there 20 min before it leaves, I am pretty sure you can get a seat. No need to reserve a ticket at all. It usually but not always leaves 10 min after the hour if the bus is not full. I saw many Americans take the bus. It is clean and confortable, and only costs 15 dollars one way. It will arrive at the South Bus Terminal in Boston, which is well connected to subway and just one or two stops away from Boston downtown.
For the one day I stayed in Boston, I took a walk following the freedom trail. It connets almost all places worthy of visiting in Boston. But the USS Constitution is open on certain days (Thurs-Sun) of the week, and the tourist trolley to there too. If you walk all the way to the end of the trail, you have to walk all the way back if it is on Monday-Wednesday. Reply to this

There is a good day tour from NYC to Boston - Boston Freedom Trail. They provide air conditioned transportation in a deluxe touring van/bus and Boston sightseeing.
you may find it here...

I have lived just north of Boston for most of my life and I absolutely adore the city. It is quite safe as far as a city goes. I have never felt uncomfortable, unsafe, or uneasy in all the times that I have been. As well as the tour that you are reffering to, I would highly reccomend a trolly tour. On these you can go around on trolleys and get on and off any any or all of the stops, look around, and then hop on the next trolley that comes along. The trolly drivers and guides are often very amusing and give great insights to the city. WHen I went, I picked up my ticket at a kiosk in Boston Common, but I'm sure you can check them out at other places.

t is a good price for your money. Also, if they are running when you are there, check out a duck tour. On the more expensive side, but very fun.

Other places to note depending on your interests: The Aquarium, Newbury Street and downtown crossing (for shopping) The commons for walking (its a really nice park) Beacon street for lots of good ethnic restaraunts, Kenmore Square for the Baseball stadium, fanuel hall...just because its really fun, and lots others. The T (subway system) is really easy to navagate. There are 4 colors each heading to a different part of the outskirts of Boston, and they all come together in Downtown Crossing.

If you want to know more, just let me know! Reply to this
