Chinese authorities ban or restrict the nationals of six countries from travelling to the illegally occupied country of Tibet.
The missus picked this up from a Vietnamese website. From the end of July, nationals of the UK, Norway, Korea, Austria, the Philippines and Vietnam will be restricted from entering Tibet. The Dalai Lama's recent visit to Europe is probably behind some of these restrictions.

Reply to this I do not know the accurate reason for these restrictions. But the number limit for the Tibet Travel Permit does exist. If you want to travel alone in Tibet, you can not apply for the permit. If you would like to know more details about the Permit, please visit Tibet Travel Permit - http://www.tibettour.com/tibet-travel-permit/.
Reply to this You should be search travel agency for travel to Tibet. Some travel agency provides cheap flights for Tibet.
Reply to this Hi Cockle,
I am not sure that China has specific restricted to several countries as you told. But just for October 2012 they closed to travel into China... You need to be at least 5 members from same nationality passport to get permit...
