Has anyone stayed in Carilo, Argentina before? If so...
Im interested in the Argentine beaches, but not the Mar Del Plata crowds that are sure to swarm when we visit. Late Feb. Carilo seems nice and relaxed, near Pinamar, which i heard good things about. Any advice out there?
Reply to this Hi, we have just been in Pinamar, Ostende and it was very crowded and expensive! Carilo is sort of part of Pinamar as the villages have merged. We were walking from Pinamar through Ostende and another village until Carilo and couldn´t find a reasonably priced room. The beach is lovely, but the town itself is not very special. There are loads of apartments and holiday houses to rent. So, if you want to stay for a bit of time and you are a few people it could be great. However, if you are travelling alone or as a couple, I wouldn´t recommend it. I haven´t been, but I have heard that Las Grutas further South is great.
Reply to this Hi, we have benn in Pinamar, Ostende last week and we couldn´t find a reasonably priced room. Pinamar, Ostende, Carilo and another village are all joined and we walked from Pinamar until Carilo and it is very expensive. The beach is lovely and the whole town is packed with wealthy Argentines. The town itself is not special, but the beach is good. There are loads of apartments and holiday houses to rent. So, if you stay for a while and you are in a group, it should be great. However, if you travel on your own or as a couple, I wouldn´t recommend it. I heard great stuff about Las Grutas further in the South.
Reply to this Hey, if u want a beach that it´s peaceful go to carilo or better, mar de las pampas, there u´ll find a lot of familys on their vacations, but if u wanna party u should go to pinamar, and u certainly have to visit KU pinamar and Pueblo Limite in Gesell.
All the beaches in Argentina are expensive, but if u have USD or it would be pretty cheap for u.
Reply to this Carilo is expensive because is trendy, like Pinamar, but more exclusive. Mar de las Pampas used to be great, but became too voguish too. Anyway, I agree that when you calculate the currency exchange, it's not so bad. And speaking of beauty, they are worth it. Las Grutas is in Patagonia, still a very small village, not fully developed when it comes to tourist accomodation and comfort, although very nice and picturesque. Keep going south and you'll get to Puerto Madryn, pretty beach and varied marine life. If you need specific prices, you can access traveldm.com and talk to specialized agents. Wherever you go, I'm sure you'll like it, have a great time!

Reply to this Thanks for the advice everyone! We're staying in a hotel in Pinamar. I've discovered through research that Carilo and Ostende and Gissell are so close, we can be sure to check out those beaches as well.
Can anyone recommend a really nice dinner for one special night in Pinamar? Money, according to the exchange rate is really not a problem for this particular dinner. Favorites?
