My husband and I will visit California for nine days in August. We fly into and out of San Francisco. The plan is to spend two nights in San Francisco and then drive to Napa Valley and follow the wine route (we are wine lovers). How much time would one need to see and experience Napa? And what would people recommend that we do afterwards? What about Yosemite National Park? I'd like to drive the coast at some point--any suggestions?
Reply to this We are going there tomorrow. It is a fantastic part of north america. I love it when I did it 8 years ago. Highway 1 is a most. I think two days in Napa is enough. Yosemite is great and we plan to hike there for three days. I would spend time in Big Sur for sure.
Reply to this will blog about this part of the world this week. It is great.
Rent a car in Napa and visit many great wineries. Yosemite has amazing hikes and lovely wild life.
Big sur is the place to be on the coast. A stop in Santa barbara is nice too.
Not a big fan of LA. It is huge ...
anyway if you have specific question message me.

Reply to this Hello Annika and Welcome to Travelblog,
You will have a wonderful time in California. There is so much to see and to do. We live 30 minutes from wine country.
As for the Wine country-- the Napa and Sonoma Vally areas offer hundreds of wineries. You can stop at an information center and pick up a brochure that will describe each winery so you can decide which ones you want to explore. If you really enjoy wines you may want to hire a limo to drive you around so you can sample many, many wines.
There are several small towns in this area and each town has it's own personality. Some of our favorites are Calistoga, St. Helena, Healdsburgh and Sonoma.
Some of our favorite wineries include:
Moet Chandon
V. Sattui
Viansa Winery & Italian Marketplace
Jacuzzi
Beringer
There are hundreds to select from but all of these have a lovely atmosphere.
Naked Napa and other Gems of Northern California
Sipping and Savoring in Sonoma
The Roman Spa is a great place to stay. You can soak in the mineral pools and get massages.
We have several other local blogs that might give you ideas of what to do while you are in the area.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
