Has anyone has had a chance to get a hold of PanaFerry to find out how to book a trip?
I have also heard that you can only by a round trip ticket and they don't let you get a on-way.
Reply to this It runs from Colon and Cartagena and though a website it given if you do a Google search, it is not a working site as of yet.
I found this information on a Panamanian Guide site. The following is a site that provides news information in English. Normally, such a link wouldn't be posted here, but since information on it is sparse, here it is:
New Ferry Service Between Colon and Cartagena to Begin on 10 May 2012
The contact information is on the very bottom of the page (in Spanish).
It does seem possible to board with a one way ticket but only if you have a confirmed flight out of Colombia, otherwise you need to purchase the return journey. This is based on a discussion on the following motorcycle traveller community website:
Panama-Colombia Ferry
Hope this helps.
Please note for anyone posting here, dropping links to websites run by travel or third-party booking agencies on this thread will be deleted.
Reply to this Hey Shane,
Thank you for doing the research.
I also called this morning and found out that even that $99 boat comes out to be $245 after all the taxes.
To reserve, you can just call in and fax the passport as well all the supporting docs as if you were traveling by plane.
I am not sure if the Perto Obaldia to Turbo is still the cheapest way to go to Colombia from Panama.
Anyone is doing this trip any time soon?
Reply to this Wish I were doing the trip soon! It is unfair to quote $99 as a price when in reality the price is significantly higher after taxes. It is illegal to promote the price of products or services in this manner in Australia. Thanks for providing the information you were able to uncover, it is sure to assist others.
