The wildlife in Kerala is also rich and has many rare species of birds and animals. It is a paradise for nature lovers.

One such beautiful place in Kerala is the famous hill station of Munnar. <snip> is in great demand and a large number of tourists visit the place round the year. It is situated on the Western Ghats and is a part of the Idukki district. There are many places worth visiting in Munnar.

One of the interesting locations in Munnar is Mattupetty. It is located at a distance of 13 kms from the Munnar town and at a height of 1700 meters above sea level. It baffles everybody by the beautiful views of the valley. The storage masonry dam and a beautiful lake are the major attractions in this place. One can also enjoy boat rides at the lake. The major characteristics of this place are Shola grasslands, tea plantations and lush green grasslands. Mattupetty is also famous for a world renowned dairy farm which is an Indo-Swiss Livestock Project.

Another lovely place that is by Mother Nature is Attukal that is an ideal place for trekking. Tourists can also enjoy long walks and catch a glimpse of the long stretches of rising hills and waterfalls. It can be accessed from Munnar or from Pallivasal that is located between them
