Is is dangerous to travel by bus at night in Mexico?

I will be travelling in the south of Mexico next month. We plan to go from Merida to Palenque by bus. We probably will also go from Tuxtla Gutierrez to Campeche by bus. The time tables are really stupid, so we plan to travel over night. Is is dangerous to travel over night by bus in this part of Mexico?
