I second taracloud.

She is going to be the next Blogger of the Week. I dropped a hint this week, on one of the forum threads that she was posting on, that she has a high chance of being chosen for this award this week. Here is her response(also posted by her on the forum thread).

Dear Mel,

Thanks so much--I feel so honored by your comments and to be a part of your great community. Before I started traveling, one of my friends said I should write a travel blog, but I didn't know what one was. When I googled it, you all came up. Reading others' blogs has helped me know of great places to visit, and I love sharing the places I find now, too. Thanks for your hard work, Tara

Thanks so much, Ali and Mell! Now, I really have a reason to catch up on my southern Patagonian blogs of walking on glaciers, visiting the end of the world and sailing through the Chilean fiords. Hopefully, too, I'll soon be able to replace my little ultra-compact camera who has snapped her last. Happy Trails to you both and to all travelers and bloggers, Tara Reply to this

One more recommend will get your blogs featured on the Front Page Tara. Fingers crossed that some bloggers will check out your blogs when they see you won an award, especially the photos and give you that 3rd recommend. 😊 Reply to this

Congratulations! Your photos are excellent, especially considering what you have done with with a compact camera! You obviously have great abilities of the photographer and these will increase the more you photograph. Strongly consider purchasing a DSLR, the camera will allow you to grow even further as a photographer. I wouldn't go for too simple a DSLR though, otherwise you will soon be bemoaning the lack of functions - you'll want a camera to grow with you. Look forward to many more of your blogs!

Thanks for your comments and recommendations, Shane--I've always enjoyed your photos too. While I love taking photos, I'm more into feeling and sensing the moment than in looking for a camera setting. I enjoy moving around to catch my favorite angle and walking at sunset, but that's about as far as I go; I never even used the scene modes in my little subcompact. I like to hike with just a water bottle and my tiny camera in my pocket. Since my new camera's instructions will be in Spanish, I'll probably wait for a fancy camera until I return back home. Thanks, though, for your support!

You now have 3 recommends, Tara. This means your future blogs will be featured on the Front Page, while this remains the requirement. But, likely by the time this requirement increases you will have more recommends anyway.

Other requirements for blogs to be featured on the Front Page:
At least 400 words in the blog.
At least 1 photo in the blog, which has been uploaded within the 10 days prior to publishing the blog.

Thanks Mell, I must admit this makes me want to catch up on ones I've been slack about writing, and also about nominating some of the great blogs I've read that haven't been on the front page. Thanks again, and hope Lydia has a great Halloween! Reply to this

Tara welcome to the Travel Blog family and congratulations on Blogger of the Week. In answer to your question--- certainly three years will not be enough time... but, it gives you a start.

We are following your adventures and look forward to reading more.

Thanks Dave and Merry Jo. I've also enjoyed your blogs and photos--your current Moroccan adventure looks fantastic. I've also appreciated reading others' accounts of meeting you in your Bay Area home--how sweet that you connect with the Travel Blog family off the page as well as here. Enjoy your last days in that fantastic country (I spent a month in Marrakesh I was so enamored with it--but I'm slow), Best wishes! Reply to this

Tara,

Some day we will retire and that will allow us to move at a slower pace. It would be great to spend a month in Marrakesh. Looking forward to reading more.
