Hey everyone,
Has anyone done the Amazon Boat trip from colombia to peru? if so what was your experience like with the boat company? Costs? and if you continued down from Iquitos 7 days to the city where the roads start connecting can you give me some more info on that?
Thanks everyone!!
Greg
Reply to this I have travelled the Peruvian amazon with Eduardo Ferries. Considered the best cheap company but I travelled downriver. The trip you are planning is upriver making it alot slower and, especially this time of year with the river full, more dangerous. I'm not saying don't do it but be sure to pay for the 3rd deck so you are not stuck indoors, if there is a problem. From Iquitos you can fly to Lima or continue on to Yurimaguas (this is 2.5 days downriver and anything from 3 to 5 days upriver) from there take a collectivo through Tarrapoto to Moyabamba and travel by bus to the Peruvian coast.
Reply to this Hey Paul!
Thanks for the info!! Iactually won't be down that way until feb-march so hopefully not flooded at that time!
thanks again paul!
Reply to this Im living in Bogota, and will make a circle, from Bogota to Quito, down to Lima, fly to Iquitos boat to Leticia then fly back to Bogota. I will be going opposite from Iquitos to Leticia... Ive decided to fly to Iquitos because I have limited time and the flights are like $80. Ive found this company that does the trip in a fast boat, its about 8 hours I believe .
