I'm going to be visiting San Diego and want to travel and do interesting things. Please share suggestions!
I am going to be in San Diego in the fall and am looking for fun and exciting things to do. I will be getting a <snip> so I will be able to travel around different places, but I would like to stay within a two hours drive of San Diego. Do you have any suggestions on fun places to visit while I am in the city? I am also interested in what restaurants local people would recommend. I am open to a lot of things, but do have a modest budget. Any suggestions would help me out a lot!

Beaches, beaches and beaches-- jog on the beach, swim in the ocean, surfing, scuba diving, parasailing.
Lots of bike trails
California has millions of theme parks.
If you like zoos, the San Diego Zoo is one of the greatest zoos in America.
Sea World, Safari Park, Legoland

Lake Poway to Mt. Woodson
Sunset Cliffs Beach Walk
Torrey Pines State Park
Ramona Waterfall
Cowles Mountain
Iron Mountain Trail
Daley Ranch
Hotel del Cornado is one of the most famous places in town. Beautiful place to have a drink or lunch and enjoy the opulence. We don't have any favorite restaurants in town. Many of them are very good.
Lots of comedy clubs.
Go to Dizzy's and listen to some music.

There are so many things to see in and near San Diego. The beaches here are beautiful and you can also find interesting architecture, gardens and museums. The San Diego Zoo is one of the few zoos that houses more than 4000 animals and some rare ones and worth visiting. Balboa park is also a good place to visit. If you like shopping then go to Seaport Village. If you are into theme parks, then I would recommend SeaWorld. For hiking, try Torrey Pines nature Reserve.
