European buying bike in columbia.

So hi, my name is Peter and i will be arriving in colombia(by boat from panama) in a week or two.
I plan to make my way all the way down to Buenos Aires in the following two or tree months.
I have been thinking about buying a little 125cc bike(or something in that area, depending on lots of stuff..) in colombia because well, riding a bike is so much better than riding a bus...

So basically i am calling out to gather as much advise as possible concerning anything and everything really;
-do i need more than a european drivers license to be allowed to drive a bike in s.america?
-125cc should be enough to get me comfortably at 70mph right?
-do i need additional assurance to my travel insurance(i'll ask my insurance agent too i guess)
-is anyone selling a bike in the north of colombia? :)
-does anyone have experience with anything similar?
-any other advice?
