Hi, everyone -

My buddy and I are thinking of setting off to Panama for about 10 days in mid July. We want to check out as much as we can, and the canal we're not so interested in.

Do you have any suggestions on best way to travel, where to go / see/ stay and maybe why? Experiences good / bad?

Been going insane reading up on various sites and books.

Thanks! Reply to this

Guys,

We are in Panama right now, on Bocas del Toro, which is definitely worth a visit. Nice beaches, good diving / snorkelling (if you are into that kind of thing) and great restaurants in town to try out.

We only arrived in country a few days ago but i think there is plenty more to see than only the canal, which of course is why it is world famous!

We are off to Boquete tomorrow so will let you know how that goes as well. Reply to this

Hi, sorry for your response. How was Boco's and Boquetta? My friend went to Bocquette and loved it.

We're leaving in a few days - I know it's rainy but shoudl still be worth it. Any suggestions? Not big snorkeler but not saying I won't try it.

Thanks

Si. From P City, fly Air Panama to Ciudad David. From there, take the yellow bus less than one hour north to Boquette. There are many hostles for you to stay in there. The city is surrounded by mountains so take your pick. The highlight though is Volcan Baru, the highest point in the country. On clear days you can see the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans from there. You are coming early in the rainy season. October is the worst and gives you little visibility. Still you should become familiar with the weather paterns and check the radar before starting any trip. There are many travel organizations that will take you as far as the road goes. Dont worry though, you still have hours of hicking to get to the top. Also there are many tours of the sourounding national parks, most of them feature jungle canopy hikes. Enjoy.
