Looking ahead to TravelBlog's 10th anniversary (April 4 2012)

Which cities are convenient for people to get to?

Are there any great festivals happening there around April 4th?

***The Asia meetup looks to have settled as KL on the Sunday 8th April.***

A festival would be a great idea.

The only holiday that falls near that date next year is Easter.

I've found a few others-- see below

Songkran - celebrated in mid-April, Songkran is held in honour of the Thai New Year. Thai Buddhist temples host festivities around the island, including the water-splashing that goes on between festival revellers

Swaminarayan Jayanti

With the festivals, won't it be difficult to make bookings for lodgings? End March towards April 4, it would be nice to meet either in HK/Macau, Bangkok , Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Reply to this

The last three sound good. HK would be the priciest option. Reply to this

I'm keen on trying to get to the Asia event (will depend on work), and would lean toward KL or Singapore - mostly because I haven't been to either before.

I do love Thailand though......

KL would be ideal. It is quite central, quite reasonable price wise and also very easy to get to. Did I read somewhere that the TB office is in KL too??? Reply to this

KL seems to be the most popular choice so far for an Asia get-together, and would be a good option transport-wise.

In response to: Msg #149608

I'll be moving on to elsewhere early on the 9th (not organised yet), but back for a night on the 13th.

PA and his family will also be back in KL for the night of 13th April. Reply to this

Hi guys. Do I take it that the meet-up happens on the 8th Easter Sunday but some of you will be around on the night of the 13th?

Im leaving late next month for Madrid and likely staying till Easter there. Will see if there's a chance I can head home soon after Easter and stop over at KL on my way back. Very iffy. But we'll see. Reply to this

Sorry guys. Looks like I'd be staying on in Spain long after Easter. My trip's delayed, and thus extended well into end April, maybe even till early May.

Have a good anniversary celebration!

I just returned to NZ today and already need to have something to look forward to...was thinking of a quick break over Easter, and I've never been to Malaysia and it could be fun to be in KL for the 10th anniversary celebrations. Can anyone join in? Reply to this

Welcome home :-)

Absolutely! We'd love to have as many TBers there as possible :-)

I'm going up on Jetstar Asia, seemed to be cheapest option from Auckland.

p.s. Would love to hear more about your trip over a coffee sometime :-)

Great - now to check with work that I can get the time off. I'll investigate some fares as well...

Yes, I would love to catch up for a coffee sometime, it's been a long while! Do you still have my mobile number? It hasn't changed... if not, I'll send you a message with it.

Today's going to be a VERY long day, but at least the sun is shining! Reply to this
