Traveling in India starting Jan 2012

Hi Me from New Jersey and my French girlfriend from Paris will be traveling about starting in Jan.2012 ( maybe before ) Landing in Mumbai or somewhere\'s in northern India. We will travel about for a few weeks untill we feel like to move on to Thailand. We are wondering about airline tickets from parts of India to the East. Is it worth it to buy our ticket in India to go east once we are ready to move on? Do we need to have a return ticket or a ticket out bound when entering India? Or does any one have any good ideas how to plan our travels from India to East Asia via plane, bus or train. we are very open about how to get from point A to point B and down to Austraila and on ward to Rio De Jeniro?
We are very interested in the Kite Festivals of India. does any one know of some good places for the Kite Festivals? thanks for all your ideas. Reply to this

Hi Patricia

I have seen your post today only as i have recently joined Travelblog regarding your query i will suggest you to book tickets in advance as you have lot of time and in Jan 12 will be high season in some part of india so it is always better to book in advance and sure you are needing return ticket also.

As in jan the climate in north India will be very good you can decide Golden Triangle tour which start from New Delhi/Agra/ Jaipur/Delhi and also you can plan for Mumbai/Goa.Mumbai for there you can book tickets for East Asia tour and if you have more time you can cover up south India also.

Let me know if u need any Travel Help

Cheers
