I and my friend plan to go to Singapore next May in backpacking type for 4 to 5 days, but actually we don\'t know much about this country. Can anybody share some experiences of places to go, food, accommodation/hostel, and where to go shopping (as I know that Singapore is a very good country for go shopping)

Moreover, I refer to some websites about renting hostels in Singapore, but actually I don\'t know which one is better. Can you share some information about good hostels for us? Is there any hostels with cheap prices but the quality is ok ??

Thank you very much !!!! Reply to this

Singapore is a great destination with diverse range of attractions including lovely parks, museums, monuments and architecture, nightlife, rich culture........ so you will have a great time there. Sentosa Resort, Singapore Flyer and Chinatown are some of the top destinations. For stay you may try River City Inn hostel. I have read many positive reviews of this hostel especially regarding its cleanliness and central location. So you may check this out if it suits your budget. For shopping Orchard Street and Chinatown are the great spots with lots of shopping opportunities. Reply to this

The zoo is really good, as is the night safari. There are many good war related museums too.

We stayed in Betel box hostel last time we were there. I would recommend it. Reply to this

Hey there,

Not sure how much is your budget, but I must say for accomodation wise is a bit pricey though. Do note that Singapore is the most expensive country in SE Asia, as whatever that you spent in Thailand and Indonesia you'll find it more expensive (three to four times more). A good way of finding accomodation is through couchsurfing.

Other than that, Singapore have quite a couple of museums worth visiting, and it'll be the Singapore Arts Festival in May, so do check out http://sistic.com.sg for interesting events that might happen in Singapore.

You don't have to worry about transport as Singapore's public transportation system is quite straight forward, reliable and fast (well don't compare Japan Bullet Train though) 😊

Food's good too, although the best place to eat in Singapore are not known to tourist; even the Lonely Planet is not accurate. Best that you befriend a Singaporean as most of these places are situated in the neighbourhood areas where most of Singaporeans lived.

All the best! Reply to this
