Looking for Advice on Where Best to Spend Six Days in Costa Rica in September

My wife and I are looking for a recommendation on which beach community to stay at on the Pacific side in terms of comfortable climate, people, night life and beach walking during the month of September. We want to stay at a comfortable hotel and looking for fun restaurants and bars. We are also looking for a good place from which to go on some travel adventures.

Hi Tennis12 - Well I live here in Costa Rica and am happy to help. First, September is one of our rainiest months here. I recommend probably Tamarindo in terms of slightly better weather. The best weather in the country will actually be on the Caribbean side but it might lack all the options you are looking for, more a backpackers paradise.

I would focus on Tamarindo, many bars, restaurants, lodging options and a good jumping off point for excursions. Mud baths in Rincon, Guatil Artisan Village, Arenal Volcano I would visit for 2 nights in itself for the hot springs and activities in the area. The 5 hours it takes to get there makes it difficult for any meaningful daytrip.

I would also mention it is better to fly into the Liberia airport if Tamarindo is to be home base, much closer.

Tennis12, my advice would be not to miss the national park Manuel Antonio on the pacific side. It was the best thing for me in Costa Rica: In search of the Pura Vida (Pacific and Central Costa Rica) Reply to this
