You may try the Jade China Travel, Inc.. (JCT) they are tour operator in USA. If you go Tibet/ Lhasa , you better use the good agency. I went there and I use Jade China Travel, they are good and they use to operate a tour with CTS Beijing China.
Since Tibet/ Lhasa is a sensitive places in China and they require a special permit to entry to Tibet/ Lhasa . JCT will helping you apply all the document.

I hope this can help you out, if you need their contact , please let me know. I send it to you .

hi,
i am an oversea student, and i am study in chengdu of china, quite near to Tibet. i suggest you not to find service from china's travel company, for group tour in china is often a little annoying, for you may not freely enjoy your tour if in a tour group. but i suggest you find service from a special travel club. they can provide you more personal service and your travel plan is up to you. they just help to provide you logistics, such as giving u a list of route u can choose , booking hotel even arranging u spending night in local residents home(i had spent two nights in a tibetan family, sleeping and eating with them, wonderful experience!), providing vehicles and drivers who can also be a guider. you can even call for stop wherever you like on you way if you find some beautiful pictures to take on your way! this kind travel is just like travel with serviceman, with whom you needn't to worry about any logistics and have abosolute freedom to enjoy. last time, the service club i found was really helpful and toughtful. they arrange everything according to your requirements, really good service. if you wanna travel to tibet you contact them. if you wanna trekking or do overland travelling, it's better good choice to find them, for they mainly deal this. their website is www.sc-top.com they have staff who can speak english well, so dont worry, if you need help just email them.
hope this help you! Reply to this

hi, i'm local in Beijing.

Here is my suggestion: i've never been to Tibet, but as far as i know most people here go to Tibet as a backpacker. cos u really need a llot of time to see, to find, to take a picture. Agencies are good at planning but they offer you quite a limited time to enjoy, and might be take you to kinds of shops buying a lot of expensive souvenirs.

For Beijing, you can visit Great Wall, Forbidden City, Heaven Temple, Summer Palace and Yuan Ming Yuan Park for historical sites. Houhai, NanLuoGu Xiang,Olympic Stadium and Wangfujing street for the modern Beijing. Reply to this

I would recommend www.chinatour.com , a U.S. based company with professional service and reseanable price.

So many options, but people prefer to use some one his/his friend have used before, old travel agency, higher prices, smaller ones, better prices, and most of them are of same qualified service. The smaller ones are even better because they care about details and customers more.

Asking for a quotation and email is for free, maybe you can try some and then you will know what you like,

I recommend CITS tibet travel, website www.tibettravel.org

It’s just revealed that train ticket purchase in China isn’t as convenient as imagined. One night last year after supper, I browsed some web pages offering Tibet trip service while waiting for my son to come back from work. Actually I was totally a layman on Tibet trip, but some splendid pictures attracted my attention especially those about the spectacular scenery along Qing-Tibet railway. So one idea came up immediately that I’d like to travel to Tibet from Washington with my son next month when we both had a half month holiday once in a blue moon.

I was informed that the construction of Qing-Tibet railway was ever suspended some years ago due to technology deficiency. However, it was really exciting that this project had been finished and tourists all over the world had the chance to get a train ride—more importantly, appreciating the charming scenery on the train is the key point. Then I began to search train tickets to Tibet and sent some inquiries to a few travel agents in China and Tibet doing Tibet trip business. Unfortunately I also got a few responses that a train ride from Tibet to other Chinese cities are available while those from Beijing, Shanghai or Chengdu to Tibet seemed to be unavailable because I actually prefer to book first class train berths (Chinese people say soft sleepers)—only 4 passengers sleep in a cabin. Interminable explanations from travel agencies about train ticket purchase in China got me annoyed. Perhaps, I could only dream of taking a train to Tibet at present.

One thing made me shine all of a sudden—CITS tibet travel(website is www.tibettravel.org) informed me through email that they were able to book Beijing-Lhasa soft sleeper berths for me—there’s light at the end of the tunnel. My plan to travel to Tibet by train with my son finally came true in this summer. I can clearly remember we boarded train T27 at around 21:20 at West Beijing Train Station. More fortunately, we got two lower beds which were convenient for us get in and out from the bed.
