Hello folks!

I will be visiting the cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in near future. I have the basic travel information, but would very much appreciate some advice on which sights are worth visiting and which I can skip, what are the MUST SEE, MUST DO, and MUST EAT in those cities 😊 And also, I plan to do some shopping for handicrafts and souvenirs. Any tips on that topic I will also gladly accept.

Thank you! 😊 Reply to this

Hey Satvic,

We haven't been to Jaipur, but Jaisalmer is definitely worth a visit. The hostel we stayed in there was one of the best in 5 months of touring India. It's called Surya guesthouse (or surja... not sure). Go into the fort to the main square, turn left and walk straight until the end of the lane. Ask for a room with a view - it's amazing and the staff are just as good.

Most people go to J'salmer for camel safaris and that hostel arranged a good overnight one for us - again the guides were good, we had a friendly group and the price was reasonable.

In Ghandi Chowk there is a really good thali restaurant where you can get unlimited food for 60rupees. Try it and love it! Don't remember the name but it's in the Lonely Planet India book.

Jodphur - The omlette shop does nice food and the old guy is really friendly - Try the Michael Baba special, it's amazing. The fort here is worth seeing and we plumped for the audio guide which was pretty interesting. I'd give the maharaja's palace a miss though, we didn't find it all that good.

Of course, a lot of people just go to these cities and wander around the 'old town' areas. This is interesting in itself and is a pretty big part of the Indian city experience (for us anyway).

Rajasthan, "the land of RAJAS (or kings)". It is the second largest state of India situated in the Northwest region. The famous festival in Jodhpur is the Marwar Festival that is held in October/November in Jodhpur. It is a time of colour and pageant when folk singers bring alive the legends of earlier times with music, dance and theatre that describes the chivalrous and romantic life of Rajasthan’s former rulers. For stay in Rajasthan Sewara is the best Resort to stay in these places.
