Need suggestions for places to visit in North California.

My wife and I are planning a week long North California trip in October. As of now we plan to fly in/out of San Fransisco. Thinking about renting a convertible and hitting Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Redwoods, and then back down the coast. I really want to make it count because we don't get too much time off for travel. Any suggestions are appreciated (other cities, attractions, hotels, restaurants, parks, landscapes, whatever). I have never been to California and would love the full experience. Reply to this

There's so much to do and see in Northern California, I don't think you'll want to waste all the time driving down the coast too far (Los Angeles is about 6-8 hrs and San Diego is 3 more than that)!

San Francisco has Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Alcatraz, Haight-Ashbury, the Exploratorium, Telegraph Road, the Ghirardelli factory, and you could spend a whole day just in Chinatown! If you're looking at Yosemite, you might want to think about Muir Woods, as well.

If you want to stay up around there, Napa and Sonoma are maybe an hour north (be sure to stop in Sausalito on the way) or you could go to Sacramento (about 1.5 hrs east), Santa Cruz (2 hrs south), or Monterey (2.5 hrs south).

You could road trip from Frisco to Calistoga where the Old Faithful Geyser is, then across to Sacramento then across to Lake Tahoe.
Highway 1 is worth a drive along. Reply to this

I give you one Travel Tips For Get Vans For rent : If you are planning a trip to Southern California, or the Southland as they refer to it out there, consider a Los Angeles van rental for your group. Airport Van Rental is who we used and I recommend them to everyone. They have well-maintained vehicles from the minivan up to 15-passenger vans, and offer online discounts.

My wife and I recently just stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast in norther california called the Whale Watch inn. We have not been able to stop talking about it since we got back. The inn sits atop cliff with an expansive view above the ocean, it was AMAZING!!!! I am unsure of the direct link to thier site but I found them through a nifty bed and breakfast directory of sorts.
