Is May an awful month to go to Thailand? Can you snorkel in May on Phi Phi or Kho Lanta?

Hello Tina 😊

No, it is not awful. I was there one May. The rainy season is not nearly as bad as one would think.

I am not so sure about snorkling, because the seas can get rough during the rainy season. But, maybe somebody who personally tried it in May can give more accurate advice.

Hi Mel,
Thanks for your response. Snorkeling is pretty important so we may cancel and try a different location. Reply to this

Hey Tina,

I think the weather will be better on the East coast this time of year. We visited Ko tao and Ko Phan ngan middle of may 2008 and the weather was stunning with excelent snorkling, especially on the lovely Ko Tao. There will be fewewr tourists and lower prices so, in my experience, a perfect time to visit, enjoy!!!
