We are planning a road trip to drive to Sedona and visit the grand canyon in April of this year.
We are looking for fun places to see, eat, stay???
Also we are heading up to UT to see Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Again more suggestion needed?
We are a young fun couple and looking to sightsee and also have a great time in the evenings. Thanks for your help. Reply to this

Last week the national news reported several weather conditions in Sedona with lots of flooding. Suggest you check conditions before you go. It would seem repairs, etc should be complected by the time you go, however sometimes road repairs take a lot longer. This is a beautiful place to visit. Lots of artist in the area. Reply to this

Hi Kim! April is a great time of year in Sedona, albeit a busy one. I would be happy to make a few suggestions for you and your family. The two most important questions I have for you are 1. Have you secured any reservations for your stay? 2. When are you planning on arriving?
The reason I ask is because, as you may know, Sedona is a small town (relatively speaking) with many visitors. Easter week, a couple of weeks before and a couple of weeks after can be very busy here. For example, my associate needed to secure a reservation for guests on a Pink Jeep tour Easter weekend and was able to book one of two open reservations. This was three days ago! I would also strongly suggest making room reservations ASAP as many folks stopping in town without them are likely to find no vacancies.
There are so many things to do in the area, even if you aren't the type to take a guided tour. Amazing hiking, dining, spas, galleries. Not much nightlife though. We locals like to say we "roll up the sidewalks after dark". Being a young, fun person myself, I have found a couple of spots like Ken's Creekside and Sedona Rouge's Reds for evening entertainment.
Bryce and Zion are well worth the road trip too.

Hi Allison
How easy is it to get to Sedona and around the area??I was looking at travelling around the bottom of UTAH but was told by the travel agent that it's ok to do tours but on your own will be really hard and expensive. I really wanted to go Bryce NP,Monument, Zion NP, Arches NP and Canyonlands NP, but apparently all this area is hard to get to including down to Sedona. Is there away i can do it without it being to expensive and by myself??

Of course there is! Granted you need a little patience, plenty of gas money and a GREAT camera since you will be in one of the Nation's most spectacular areas!! It isn't particularly "easy" to drive to each of these places in a couple of days time (you'll also want to stay long enough to hike or explore) because there aren't many connecting roads between highways. Also, since much of it is driving through Reservation land, you won't find many McDonalds or even gas stations and if you are particularly attached to your cell phone, you're gonna be ticked. If you are by yourself, just be smart. Don't leave your brain at home like many of us do when we are on a vacation! Make sure you are prepared for any car trouble and that you are checking in with folks back home when you get a chance. How many days are you allowing yourself?
Now, in regards to what your travel agent said and having been a concierge in Sedona for several years myself... she would probably rather you book tours through her... $catch my drift$?
Don't get me wrong, I would suggest at some point during your trip you take a structured tour. The guides around these areas are the best-of-the-best in most cases. You'll leave with new found appreciation for the natural and geological history and the rich cultural background of the Native Americans.
Let me know if I can provide any further assistance!

Alex, I think two weeks should give you plenty of time. Are you an avid hiker or climber? You could even take a quick climbing class in Zion. The Narrows are awesome, but the water may still be a little chilly when you are there. I took the Angel's Landing hike too. It was a bit of a challenge (esp. if you are afraid of heights) but incredible. Have fun!
