14 years ago, January 16th 2010 No: 1 Msg: #99910
after 6 lovely days on lovely chilled out Koh Lanta we plan to move Phi Phi toorrow but have been told that accomodation is quite hard to come by. we are on a travellers budget so are looking around 500 - 800 bht region. does anyone have any recent experience of digs in the quieter areas of the island?
any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Phi Phi relax resort had tents the last time I was there. You cab use all the facilities, its just you sleep in a tent. It will just be you and about 20 others on a 100m beach, with a bar, restaurant and an outdoor massage place on the beach. Reply to this

Phi PHi can be lots of fun, great place to chill and do beach parties w/out worrying about transport. If you walk around, especially the path towards the back of the village, so from the pier just keep walking towards the far back of the village and outside of the center.

If you want something cheap-ish and central, The White is a good option or the Orange Tree... both central to town and beaches. I think I got rooms for less than 1000 THB, so shared, no prob. They are clean and simple. Staff of the white can be rude, but hey- it is a decent option...

Its good to see someone in Koh Lanta, may I ask, did you visit a bar called Otto's Bar?

As for my opinion on Phi Phi, its over priced, over developed and not worth it.

You can do everything you want to do on Lanta. Phuket is more my scene, because you have access to modern conveniences as well as some of the best beaches and the cost can be from 300 baht a night depending on where you want to stay.
