I have the last weekend of January in Guatemala free. What do I do on a tiny budget?!?!

I will be with my female friend in Flores, Guatemala on the 28th. We want to have fun, hike, and watch for animals. We are contemplating going to Semuc Chumpey, but I don't know. We are poor college students. Any advice?

hi!) now i stay here, in Guatemala, in the town, named Antigua. is very amazing colonial place that is really worth visiting. it's touristic and there are a lot of young people liming in small bars as well as in the streets! Antigua stays about 45 km from Guatemala-city and you can take a taxi that is about $50 (oops, i'm not so sure of the price) or also a bus! check it on the internet=) this town is surrounded by volcanoes that makes its location magic)) i advise you to come here but maybe not for 1 week! it's rather enough to spend here 2 or 3 days! awesome thanks!
i had looked into antigua. i was trying to decide between antigua and semuc chumpey. do you know how far the volcanoes/national parks are from antigua? is there any jungle or animal land around there? i really want to hike and see lots of animals!
thanks again Reply to this

not at all😊
you see the volcanoes all around there, so, i don't think that it takes too much time to arrive there! of course, the main problem is to go up, but there's guide and other people who are more experienced)
the outskirts of antigua are full of greenery, but i haven't heard about any animals there.
ask local people or taxi drivers about the legend) it's smth that deserves great attention, for me) after, let me know what they would tell you!
i wish you a good trip) Reply to this

I think just enjoy the place, don spend too much your money even you are free for travel but it is better that you have an extra money on your pocket going home so that you can have amount to be spend just encase you get trouble in the way. I am not a professional traveler but most of the time I made a trip with my colleagues in .
