I'm travelling with a friend who's a school teacher so we're restricted to the school holidays. Which area of China is best at this time? We're looking to go to Beijing, X'ian and possibly finish in Hong Kong and cover some other areas. We're gong to be going on a group tour for 3 weeks and don't want typhoons and bad rain to spoil it. I know it will be hot but I don't want continual downpours every day. I can deal with a few heavy showers. Any advice would be great. Cheers. Reply to this

Hi, it is not a good time of the year, definitely both rainy and typhoon risk at the coast. Also the heat (35-40 degrees not uncommon) which in combination with pollution make big cities quite uncomfortable. However, the Guizhou and Yunnan provinces are inland and at an altitude and much cooler, and very interesting to visit too. Cities like Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Zhongdian and Guiyang in Guizhou are easy to travel to and have lot's to offer, don't need a group tour really but many tours are available there too. But it will probably be raining...
Have a good time. Reply to this
