Guatemala - Animal Rescue Centre Voluntary Work

Anyone ever contributed to a project like this and have any advice to offer, about transport too?

Hi,
I'm a student that will be in Guatemala for 4 weeks in July 2010. I'll be travelling on my own and I'll be 18 at the time so I'm kinda looking for any advice or information that'd be useful. I wondered if anyone else has ever worked at a place like this, what kind of thing it involves and that kind of thing :)
Also if anyone else will be around in Guatemala at this time it'd be cool to talk :)
One last thing, I'm flying to Guatemala City and am told I need to travel a 7 hour bus journey to the centre, anyone have any advice on how this would be best done?
