Hi fellow travellers, I'm arriving in Mumbai early December and would like personal recommendations for a reasonably priced hotel in the Colaba area. I'll be staying a few days and want somewhere where I can meet other independent travellers, get good advice on places to go, trains etc. Looking for simple but clean and preferably with private bathroom,

The Bentley Guesthouse in Colaba has a good reputation for being good and good value. If you choose this one, book in advance, because it gets booked up.
You can buy train tickets in advance on the internet. Might be an idea, to save some hassle and also trains often need to be booked at least a few days in advance, because they get booked up. I will look up the site for booking the trains, and post it on this thread.
Where to go? : Well, that is certainly a matter of perference. Last time I was in Mumbai I went to Matheran Hill Station. I can recommend that.
